Maxicare had a blast at VegFest Pilipinas 2023, held last November 18 and 19, 2023. It was a fun-filled celebration of health and wellness underscored by a need to shift the focus to sustainable plant-focused consumption in climate crisis hotspots like the Philippines.

The HMO joined in the celebration by providing a host of activities to showcase Maxicare’s unique position as a partner for holistic health and wellness. Booth visitors were given a chance to learn about the unique PRIMA products and their benefits, and some were even treated to a massage offered by the brilliant therapists available at the event.

During the festival’s first day, attendees enjoyed a show presented by Juana Yupangco, founder and editor of Mesa ni Misis. She demonstrated how to cook plant-based food on a budget, highlighting her expertise in plant-forward sustainability. Juana’s cooking demonstration was well-received by the audience at VegFest.

The second day was no less action-packed. Festival attendees were able to hear talks on plant nutrition and self-care from doctors Johann Mañez and Jan Dipasupil. Dr. Mañez is a pioneering Lifestyle Medicine physician in the country, and he discussed the effects of a plant-based diet on two serious illnesses: diabetes and heart disease. Meanwhile, Dr. Dipasupil is a member of the Philippine College of Lifestyle Medicine, and he spoke about the importance of self-care, specifically the importance of sleep and your sleep pattern.

VegFest Pilipinas 2023 was held at The Spine in Pasay City’s Blue Bay Walk, a stone’s throw away from Maxicare’s Primary Care Clinic in Double Dragon. This was VegFest’s eighth year in the Philippines since the festival began locally in 2016, and it highlights the impact of animal agriculture on climate change while promoting a more plant-forward and sustainable way of food production to mitigate this climate risk.
