As part of the Juan Community: Gokongwei Group Volunteerism Program, Maxicare proudly nominated five (5) schools in Makati to take part in this year’s Brigada Eskwela, and the first school supported was Nemesio I. Yabut Elementary School.
We were honored to have Ms. Lisa Gokongwei-Cheng, General Manager of the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation, grace our event. Her presence highlighted the group’s strong commitment to education and volunteerism, inspiring both our team and the school community.
One of the highlights was the book donation drive, where we turned over storybooks and learning materials to the students. Every book represents a new opportunity to learn, enrich imagination, and foster a lifelong love for reading.
We also prepared a special role-play activity entitled “Ang Madjik Silya ni Titoy” for the Grade 1 pupils, which was performed by our Health and Network Management employees. The interactive skit not only entertained the children but also encouraged them to be imaginative, creative, and engaged. Their laughter and smiles made the activity truly memorable for everyone involved.
Beyond the shared resources, the true value lay in the time, energy, and genuine care extended to support the school and its young learners. Our Brigada experience at Nemesio I. Yabut Elementary School is a true reflection of what the Juan Community stands for: volunteerism with a heart, working hand in hand to create a brighter future for the next generation.
