A Fun Run For Everyone
07/ 09/ 2018
Over 3,000 runners – from beginners and seasoned runners, to kids and the elderly – had a fun, fitness-inspired weekend at the Maxicare Run 2018 at the North Fountain by the Bay SM MOA.
The run, organized by Maxicare Healthcare Corporation, the leading healthcare provider in the country, had the theme “A Run for Everyone” and featured for the first time a special category for elderly runners, turning it into a #familyfunday with the participation of Lolos and Lolas in the new 1k Senior Sprint for 60-year olds and above.
Other features were the 200-meter dash for 3-12-year olds, the easy 3k and 5k and the 10k and 16k for the more athletic. Everyone was invited to join as the event aims to engage and unite everyone in a single goal: fitness.
Athletes were awarded a medal after finishing their chosen course, and refilled their tummies with delicious but guilt-free treats at the Healthy Food Station. To cool their muscles down, dance instructors conducted a short Zumba session.
Maxicare president and CEO Sean Argos thanked the participants and enthused that due to the large turnout of participants, the company is now considering making Maxicare Run an annual event.
The Maxicare Run 2018 is for the benefit of Pusong Pinoy Foundation Inc., a non-profit organization subsidizing diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular procedures for indigent Filipino patients at the Philippine General Hospital. It was held in partnership with LeadPack, one of the most recognized run organizers in the country.
Through the benefit run, Maxicare not only promoted an active lifestyle but also allowed people to experience it. The Maxicare Run 2018 was intended to be a game-changer in the health and fitness campaign.
